About

History

Forestville Uniting Church started its mission in the Forestville and Killarney Heights suburbs as The Forestville Methodist Church in 1958. This was supported by Chatswood South and Frenchs Forest Methodist church planters.

The existing house on the property in Darley Street served as the Church and Sunday School for early services and later as the manse. The wife of the second minister, Rev Roger Bush, developed pneumonia three times in the first year of their occupancy and it was then decided to purchase a separate manse in Landscape Avenue. The deposit was funded by the Forestville Ladies Church Aid.

The current hall was the original church with several later additions creating the combined church, hall and preschool complex enjoyed by worshippers and the community now. The preschool caters for eighty children daily with a highly regarded educationally based program.

The Methodist Church joined in union with the Congregational and Presbyterian Churches in 1977 to become the Uniting Church.

Forestville Uniting Church continues to be active in worship, mission and outreach as an engaged and committed member of the local and wider community.
